Maria is an independent Information Specialist that is passionate about people, information, and research, offering a variety of information, library, reference and research services on an international scale.
She started her career with a Bachelors in Political Science and Public Administration providing information services for Human Resources recruitment sourcing passive candidates. She continued her information studies to learn business and competitive intelligence research. Having an interest in law she picked up an Administration of Justice Paralegal certificate to learn legal research. During her Masters degree program in Library and Information Science (MLIS) she specialized in reference services and instruction and learned about the classification, organization, selection, and managment of information.
She enjoys assisting people define their information needs, teaching them information literacy and how to do research. Being familiar with and having used a wide range of information tools and on-line services (.i.e., business, government, legal and scientific databases) she has developed the ability to effectively search, select, and critically evaluate them. Maria loves her work, she challenges folks to be life-long learners and encourages those aspiring to be in her field. She has built a professional career serving clients and companies in Silicon Valley with their information needs and hopes to do the same in the European Union while her teenaged son gets a quality education.
Maria is affiliated with the Special Libraries Association in th USA and Europe, the American Association of Law Libraries and other professional organizations. She earned her MLIS from San Jose State University in San Jose, California graduating Magna Cum Laude; was a Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Member and a National Honor Society Member in college and high school. In her free time, she enjoys practicing her foreign languages, dancing and French intensive gardening.
